Introduction to Block Printing

In this 5 week course you will learn basic block printing techniques and how to apply these to a handmade bag. Block printing is the process of printing patterns by using either lino or engraved wooden blocks. It is the earliest form of textile printing.
Your tutor will guide you through this exciting process and by the end of the course you will have a block printed tote bag to take home.
Please note: Although this is not a qualification course you will be required to take photos of your work and reflect on what you have learnt on this course
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Use block printing techniques to print onto textiles
- Start to gain an understanding of block printing health and safety
- Use sewing skills to make a tote bag
- Gain an understanding of visual language and composition
Ideal for
This course is ideal for beginners and improvers. This is a relaxing and supportive environment in which to gain an understanding of the block printing technique. No prior experience is required.
