Introduction to Nakshi Kantha: Wellbeing

In this 5 week course you will gain an understanding of Nakshi Kantha, a traditional Bangladeshi embroidery technique that uses the running stitch.  Your tutor will guide you through the use of this technique to make a recycled mini quilt/throw over. You will use sustainable making methods to learn this technique. This course will be taught at a slow pace with an emphasis on being present and mindful. 

Please note: Although this is not a qualification course you will be required to take photos of your work and reflect on what you have learnt on this course 

By the end of the course you will be able to: 

  • Use a range of different materials to make your mini quilt/throw over
  • Start to understand the Nakshi Kantha technique 
  • Gain an understanding of simple pattern making techniques
  • Gain an understanding of sustainable ways to use textiles 
  • Focus on being more present and mindful

Ideal for

This course is ideal for beginners and improvers. This is a relaxing and supportive environment in which to improve your sewing and textile skills. No prior experience is required.
