Painting & Drawing for Beginners: ONLS Entry Level Course

This introductory course teaches you the fundamentals of mark-making: drawing using techniques of perspective, shapes and shadow, using pencil, pen, ink, charcoal, coloured pencils, pastels and chalk. For those who wish to use wet media you have an opportunity to explore painting techniques and methods using watercolours, acrylics and oils.
This course is made up of one mandatory unit: Create a Piece of Craft or Design.
Please note: This is an accredited course and involves some written work.

Learning outcome 1
1 The learner will: understand how a craft or design project is made
1.1 demonstrate awareness of materials to create crafted items or designs
Learning outcome 2
2 The learner will: be able to create a crafted item or design
2.1 combine 2 or more materials/items to create a craft item or design
Ideal for
Learners who want an introduction to art and design, enabling them to develop their technical skills and creativity in this exciting medium. The programme of study is ideal for beginners with an interest in exploring 2D media and mark-making. You will be given simple demonstrations supported with handouts and one to one advice.
