Pottery Entry Level 3 Evening Course

In this 10-week pottery course for beginners you will learn to build & decorate a vessel or a sculpture with the fundamentals of hand building techniques; slab building, pinch and coil, as well as throwing techniques as well as learning to decorate surfaces with glazes.

Please note: This is an accredited course and involves some written work. 

This course is made up of one mandatory unit: Making an Art or Craft Product.  This is split into the following Learning objectives:

Learning outcome 1 – the learner will be able to select items needed to make an art or craft product

The learner can:

1.1 organise resources needed to make the product

1.2 prepare work area

Learning outcome 2 – The learner will be able to make the art or craft product

The learner can:

2.1 make the art or craft product using the required materials

Learning outcome 3 – The learner will be able to work safely

The learner can:

3.1 work in a way that minimises risks to self and others

3.2 wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

3.3 use tools and equipment safely and effectively

Ideal for

  • Learners who wish to develop a portfolio of artwork, sculptures and design ideas.
  • Learners studying in preparation for employment in Art and Design or the creative industry
  • Those wishing to gain an Entry Level 3 qualification to support further study.

Entry requirements

All qualifications require an initial assessment. This course is open to anybody with an interest in working with 3D media, from complete beginners to the more advanced learners who want to improve their skills further. You will be given simple demonstrations supported with hand-outs.

Course fees must be paid in full before the first session starts.
