Husna Parvin

Artist Accelerator 2022

Husna is a past participant in the Rosetta Arts’ Artist Accelerator scheme in 2022. She is a visual artist who has loved drawing and painting from a young age. She believes that art has the power to change people’s lives in a positive way. Art can improve communication, facilitate healing and improve communities. She has been delivering art workshops in her local community for nearly a decade to a range of students who come from different backgrounds. She loves watching how they benefit from art sessions. Meeting new people and working with them keeps her passionate.

Her proudest moment was when she took part in an exhibition for Bangladesh’s 50th year of freedom and Independence. The exhibition was held at Mile End art pavilion. Her work was based on the 1971 War of Liberation. She received very positive feedback from younger generations within the diaspora and felt very humbled and privileged to be part of the display. She found connecting these young people with their culture was very rewarding. She learned that visual art is so strong, it can be stronger than verbal communication.

She loves art because it enables her to meet people from different backgrounds. She loves painting nature, using acrylics, watercolour, oil and pastels. She works within various styles such as impressionist, contemporary and fine art. She also has experience of teaching fruit carving.

She was born and brought up in Bangladesh and has been living in Tower Hamlets since 1992, she has 3 children who are all adults now.

Her favourite quote that is her own is:

I love to encourage everyone to paint flowers so they can see the pure beauty in it.
