Veronica Rowlands

Artist Educator

Veronica Rowlands a socially engaged visual artist whose practise explores themes around melancholy, nostalgia and evoking the ‘inner child’ in adults through the creation of demure, evocative, childlike illustrative art pieces. Veronica originally studied Surface Pattern Design (specialising in textiles for fashion) at Swansea College of Art and later went on to complete an MA in illustration at Kingston University. Inspired from transitional and tactile objects, vintage toys and their stories (occasionally incorporating imagery from the natural world) Veronica creates artworks; sometimes researched in great depth and executed digitally, sometimes painted or drawn intuitively and on occasion using stitch and textiles. In more recent works Veronica received funding from Arts Council England to deliver a visual arts project to raise awareness of narcissistic abuse. Alongside Veronica’s creative practice she works as an art educator and workshop facilitator, delivering a wide range of educational and holistic art and textile workshops for children age 4 to adult. She has worked with Rosetta for the last ten years and is currently teaching on the ‘Art Star’s Saturday School programme, and has additionally taught on adult evening classes and delivers family learning/wellbeing workshops during the school holiday period.

Veronica is incredibly passionate about her subject and passing on skills, bringing out the best in her students and allowing them to find their voice through the arts.
