Tandem Europe

November 2017 – November 2018

We are delighted to announce that through Tandem Europe we are working with Rasha Shaaban, the Project Manager and Anna Lindh Foundation Network Coordinator at Världskulturmuseet (National Museum of World Culture) in Sweden on a project called Mind the Gap. Designed to allow for an exchange of learning, building intercultural dialogue bridges and to enhance the well-being of minorities, Mind the Gap utilises innovative community arts strategies such as digital storytelling, mindfulness and visual arts.

Tandem Europe supports experimental collaborations between cultural change makers from the EU member states. It is tailor-made for cultural managers who work on creative solutions that tackle contemporary challenges in our societies and want to cultivate pioneering ideas and generate socio-economic impact with partners throughout the EU.

The programme helps to create and sustain culturally innovative impact by cutting across sectors, disciplines and borders; it enables cultural professionals from various disciplines to acquire new skills and processes required for innovation, engaging in long-term partnerships and organisational change.

Whilst visiting Gothenburg earlier this year in April, our Chief Executive, Sanaz Amidi participated in the third episode of Talk Real, filmed at the Museum of World Culture, discussing how artistic institutions can open spaces to shift perceptions about migration.

A part of the collaboration element of the programme gave the young people enrolled on the Rosetta Arts Young Makers programme to participate in a digital storytelling workshop with Rasha Shaaban and new media artist Shanaz Gulzar. The workshop explored the topic of Civil Courage and Ethics through the of Heroes: Real and Imagined. Read more about the project here.

Tandem Europe is an initiative developed by European Cultural Foundation and MitOst e.V together with Fondazione Cariplo with additional financial support from Robert Bosch Stiftung and Stavros Niarchos Foundation. It is implemented together with 4iS (Aveiro), COMM’ON (Athens) and Ideas Factory (Soa).
