The Creative Newham Cultural Producers programme 2022-23 is now complete.
This programme provided a comprehensive training programme in cultural producing across art-forms for eight 18-30 year olds. It included a 45-day paid placement in a local cultural
organisation, classroom-based theory, 1-1 professional mentoring and regular supervision, with trainees receiving a training bursary (London Living Wage).
Over the course of the programme, participants were equipped with the tools, knowledge and experience to enter the creative arts sector and help to expand and enrich the culture
of Newham and elsewhere. The cohort of successful trainees for this pilot programme were:
Amina Onitilo , Augusto Cascales, Elektra Sadotti, Emma King , Jessica Amaral, Kev(in) Audience, Lamesha Ruddock and Tamera Heron.
Participating host organisations for this cohort were: Bow Arts, Gasworks Dock Partnership (Cody Dock), LCF Centre for Sustainable Fashion, Rosetta Arts, Royal Docks, Social Convention and Theatre Royal Stratford East.
As a result of participating in the programme, all eight Cultural Producers gained paid employment or offers of employment, were successful in winning funding bids, entered
further professional training and/or joined local cultural boards as a result of being on the programme.
“The programme was exceptional and really did the job of making us into cultural producers”
“The combination of classroom learning, the placement and mentoring gave a very solid overview of the industry”
“I’m more willing to apply for producer roles now … I feel I could apply for those jobs whereas I didn’t really feel like that before”
“I believe I am a Cultural Producer now, so I act like one”
All host organisations said they benefitted from hosting a Cultural Producer and said they would work with their trainee again.
“I cannot express enough how delighted we have been with this placement and how impressed we have been with this programme … it has been a thoroughly rewarding
experience and worthwhile as a host”
“We really enjoyed the experience and benefitted greatly from having our Cultural Producer working with us”
This Cultural Producers programme was delivered by Rosetta Arts on behalf of Creative Newham.
