Create simple but extraordinary geometric patterns commonly used in Middle Eastern art!

Join us at Katherine Road Community Centre on Monday 6th September or at Plaistow Library on Tuesday 7th of September for an introduction to geometric pattern design with Aisha Naim.

Geometrical patterns in Middle Eastern art and architecture are more than just line drawings. Explore how the repetitive, complex geometric patterns in Middle Eastern art give the impression that even the smallest element of pattern plays a distinctive role in the infinite repetition of the whole – and learn how to create your own geometric design.

The workshop is based on the pattern of the Great Mosque of Cordoba, Spain. All materials will be provided.

Register for your free place now! Booking is essential as groups are limited to 12 people.

Discover how easy it is to produce a wonderful screenprint to display for Newham Unlocked Window Art Exhibition this September!

Join us at Katherine Road Community Centre on Tuesday 7th September or at Jeyes Community Centre on Thursday 9th of September for an introduction to screen printing with local artist and experienced printmaker Farah Ishaq.

Come along and make unique artworks! Booking is essential as groups are limited to 12 people.

To take part, you won’t need any previous screen printing or art making experience. The workshop will introduce you to basic printing techniques using acrylic paints to create one or two colour screen prints using paper stencils designed and cut — and hand printed by yourself. We will be creating artworks loosely based on the Newham Unlocked festival theme Unity. This can be anything you want it to be!

Once the workshop is over, you will have a set of A4 screen printed artworks which you can take home and proudly display in your window as part of Newham Unlocked Window Art Exhibition.

All materials will be provided.

These events are part of the Newham Unlocked Festival, funded by Newham Council.
