A message from the Rosetta Arts Board of Trustees:
It is with regret that my fellow trustees and I announce that our charismatic chief executive, Sanaz Amidi, is stepping down.
Sanaz has led Rosetta Arts for the last fifteen years. During that period she has taken a small art education body forward to become a more broadly-based arts charity serving the diverse communities of Newham and beyond. Under her inspirational leadership, Rosetta has transformed the lives of many who had previously had little access to the arts: some by being able to pursue a career in the creative sector, others by satisfying a personal passion, by gaining emotional self-confidence, or by connecting with their local community.
Sanaz has in particular overseen the successful and prudent expansion of Rosetta Arts through the last five challenging years as a charity and as an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation. She has established invaluable partnerships with a wide spectrum of bodies across London, England and Europe. She has laid the basis for Rosetta to celebrate its thirtieth anniversary this year, and face the future with confidence. Rosetta begins its new three year road map to continue to deepen its much valued work in Newham, one of the most diverse and dynamic boroughs in the country, and is working with national partners to bring models of best practice in community engagement, supporting diverse artists and working at the intersection of arts and health. Over the next 3-5 years we are working towards opening a new creative venue and dedicated visual arts centre in Newham.
Sanaz says:
After 16 glorious years I am very sad to be leaving. However the time is right with Rosetta Arts in a position of strength, as one of only eight visual arts organisations in London to receive an NPO uplift from Arts Council England. I am incredibly proud of everything we have achieved at Rosetta, and I am excited for who the next CEO can be, and know they will be welcomed by a fantastic and experienced team, talented artists and dedicated trustees & supporters.
We wish Sanaz every success and fulfilment in her future career. For the immediate future, she has kindly undertaken to support the arrival and early steps of her successor, whom the trustees and I will now seek to appoint over the coming weeks.
