Updated: 14 January 2021
Dear Rosetta Arts community. We wanted to update you on the status of Rosetta Arts during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
Our priority is the health and safety of our community – including our participants, our artists, our volunteers and our staff – and we are working with our venue partners and clients to monitor the situation closely and will keep updating this page with changes over the coming weeks.
Building and office hours
Our residence at the Gainsborough Learning Centre is now closed and we don’t expect to be back in the building until January 2021, so activities will continue to be online. We are operating with the usual office hours for the foreseeable future, but are working remotely. We ask that you contact us either by email or by telephone. Our phone number is 0207 511 1117.
Digital programmes
It is our belief that art connects us with each other, helps us to navigate uncertainty, and offers us a space to reflect during times of change. So while we can’t come together in person for now, we are exploring ways to continue bringing together art programming in the digital sphere.
We have or are creating digital programmes for:
- ART SUPERSTARS! a free online programme of activities for Disabled children at home or as part of Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) groups at school – details here.
- ART STARS! Saturday School – details here
- Humble Happiness Hub – details here
- Young Creative Newham Board – details here
- Personal creative mentoring sessions for 16-18 year olds as part of I Design My Future
- Some Bitesized adult courses TBC
- Be Creative! Tasters for 10-16 year olds with Newham’s Youth Zones – contact Trisha
Programmes that are delayed
We are still running the Artist Accelerator Programme and the artists have now been appointed.
We are delaying until further notice:
- New accredited adult courses
- Courses for adults with disabilities (pottery, mosaics and arts & crafts)
- Newham Word Festival activities
- Professional Development Group
Support for freelance artists and creative professionals
This is a hard time for the freelancers that are the lifeblood of our sector. We will signpost any funding information and resources here that might be able to support them:
- Creative Industries Federation has collated advice from across the sector to provide guidance to those in the creative industries who are affected by the Coronavirus and its fallout
- The Artists’ General Benevolent Institution financially supports professional artists in need and their dependents
The future of Rosetta Arts
We want to thank you as always for your continued support. Rosetta Arts is a charity, like many other arts organisations, which relies on donations; if you have enjoyed programmes you have attended, and feel able to make a donation to support our work through this difficult period.
If this advice changes and impacts your courses or programmes, we will notify you using the contact details you have provided us with at enrolment. We will also place updates here and via social media. Sign up to our newsletter to get updates on all of our programmes every month.
