What was Rosetta Arts up to in September?

September means a new year and a new term with Courses at Rosetta Arts kicking off once again. But as usual, we’ve also been busy attending, running and planning activities in community spaces around east London. We:

  • Ran lantern-making workshops for adults with learning difficulties and disabilities, and children from our ARTS STARS! and Young Makers programmes, in partnership with Emergency Exit Arts. The workshops were all part of the Join the Docks programme and illuminated lanterns were released into the Thames as part of the festival’s finale ‘Wishful’
  • Kicked off the CREATIVE NEWHAM! consortium, which aims to reddress the imbalance of cultural activity between the east and the west of Newham, and to focus cultural programming in the nine least engaged wards of the borough led by local people. More information will be announced in the coming months, but you can sign up to the consortium’s e-bulletin by contacting zoe@rosettaarts.org
  • Held an Open Day for adults and children jam packed with taster sessions in mosaics, drawing and photography – all thanks to funding from Newham Council.
  • Attended a talk at Here East organised by The Immersive Kind Collective on the ‘sustainable, ethical human’ with speakers from the Design Council, Studio Bark, Climate Museum UK and many more.
  • Went to the the first Fusion Prize workshop (and we’ll be running workshops at the next ones so check them out).
  • Saw the wonderful new English National Ballet building open it’s doors in Canning Town.
  • Held an Away Day at St Margaret’s House for all of our staff and artist educators where we got planning for the coming year.
