Accessibility Statement

At Rosetta Arts, we are committed to being as inclusive and welcoming as possible. We recognise that accessibility is an ongoing process, and we are actively working to remove barriers to access across our building, website, and programmes.

This page sets out what support and facilities we currently provide, where we have limitations, and what improvements we are planning.

Physical Access to Our Building

Ground floor

Our ground floor is fully wheelchair accessible and includes step-free access to studios, workshop spaces, galleries, and the main meeting room. The main entrance can present challenges — see entrance access below.

First floor

Some of the facilities are located on the first floor, including certain artist studios, darkroom facilities, and office spaces. These are currently only accessible via stairs. If you need to access first floor facilities, please get in touch and we will discuss available options with you.

Entrance access

Our main entrance has two double doors. While both leaves are needed to open fully, the primary leaf (single door) is 547mm wide, which can be tight for wheelchair users. The door is also heavier than recommended and has high handles. If you need assistance opening the doors, contact us or inform us ahead and we will provide the adequate support needed. 

Parking

We have two dedicated disabled (Blue Badge) parking spaces close to the main entrance. General parking on site is limited. We encourage public transport, walking or cycling when possible.

Public transport

Rosetta Arts is easily reached by public transport:

• West Ham Station (Jubilee, District, Hammersmith & City lines, plus DLR and C2C): Full step-free access to all platforms
  
• Star Lane DLR: Full step-free access between street and platform

Toilets and facilities

We have two accessible toilets on the ground floor available for all visitors. These include grab rails, accessible basins, and automatic hand dryers.

Communication & Support

Accessibility needs

If you need support with sensory needs, seating, mobility, large print materials, or anything else, tell us before you visit. We'll do our best to sort it out.

British Sign Language (BSL) Interpretation

We don't currently fund BSL interpretation, but you can bring your own interpreter. We're also open to discussing funding options with you. If you need BSL support, tell us at least two weeks ahead so we can plan.

Emergency procedures

If you have mobility or sensory needs that affect evacuation, let us know when you book. We'll discuss safe evacuation routes with you.

Website Accessibility

Website Features

We've built this website to WCAG 2.1 AA standards. That means:

• Good colour contrast for readability
  
• Alt text on images for screen readers
  
• Proper heading structure so screen readers can navigate logically
  
• No flashing or autoplaying content
  
• Text sizing and spacing that's easy to read

Known gaps

We're still improving the site. Right now:

• Some images, especially on project and gallery pages, don't have detailed descriptions yet. We're working through them.
  
• Some PDFs may not be fully accessible. Get in touch if you need an accessible version.

We test the website regularly and add improvements as we add new content. If you find something that doesn't work, email info@rosettaarts.org.

Equality Act 2010

We have a legal duty under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people. If you can't access something because of accessibility barriers, tell us. We'll work with you to fix it.
