See Sylvie Belbouab’s work at Newham Lockdown Window Art exhibition

Photographer Sylvie Belbouab, one of the artists on our Artist Accelerator Scheme, is taking part in Newham Lockdown Art, an exhibition which aims to give local people something exciting and interesting to look at on their daily walks.

Dozens of local artists are showcasing their work in their front gardens and windows across Newham as part of the exhibition.

Sylvie has shared a selection of images from her photographic essay “2020, a year of lockdown and protests”.

She said: “I documented these moments both of the reality of lockdown with the difficult days, the precious moments of simply joy or the loneliness. I followed and took part in the local BLM movement, and photographed the emergence of people getting together to stand up against racism and police violence.”

“I am very excited to take part in this great local project,” Sylvie said. “It is a great way of enjoying art while exercising, I miss visiting galleries so much and really look forward walking around the borough to enjoy art work.”
