Botanical Drawing & Painting Course - Beginners/Intermediate
In Newham | East London
A beginner-friendly course introducing the fundamentals of botanical drawing and watercolour painting through observational studies of flowers and plants
5 weeks | Tuesdays 6:30pm - 8:30pm | £115
Course overview
Join artist Giulia Morabito for a fun and accessible introduction to drawing and painting a range of flowers and plants.
Over five weekly evening sessions, you'll develop skills in botanical drawing and painting, progressing from traditional observational drawing to watercolour. We'll begin with pencil studies, focusing on close observation of plant forms and using chiaroscuro to capture light, shadow, and structure. We'll deepen our observational and tonal skills before moving into watercolour techniques, including washes, layering, and colour mixing.
The final sessions will focus on applying these watercolour skills to botanical subjects, building towards a finished piece. By the end of the course, you will have completed at least one finished botanical watercolour, alongside a body of sketches and studies from throughout the sessions.
The course is suitable for beginners and intermediate students.
