Who is Flotsam Sessions?
Flotsam Sessions is a London-based music collective creating spaces where musicians from different backgrounds come together to share folk, roots and world music. They run open workshops, jam sessions, residencies and live performances. All abilities welcome — whether you play an instrument or just want to listen and sing along.
What Happens At Flotsam Session
Workshops and jam sessions
Flotsam runs regular sessions where people learn songs from different musical traditions, then play together. No experience needed.
The Flotsam Orchestra
A larger ensemble bringing together musicians to perform work developed during residencies and workshops. The orchestra rehearses together over several weeks, building new arrangements and pieces that blend different musical traditions. Members create something bigger than themselves — a world orchestra where your voice and instrument matter, whatever your background or musical training. Live performances showcase the work they've created together.

Residencies
Flotsam develops deeper work over several weeks, culminating in performances and new pieces. A residency gives musicians time to explore, experiment, and build relationships with each other. You work with the collective to develop new music, learn from each other's traditions, and create something that wouldn't exist without that sustained collaboration. Residencies have included work at Rosetta Arts, where the Flotsam Orchestra develops new performances.
Flotsam Sessions at Rosetta Arts
Flotsam now hosts sessions at our space in Newham. We're proud to be part of their community and to host their workshops and rehearsals here. Check their calendar and social media for upcoming dates and times. All sessions are open to anyone who wants to play, sing or listen. Our ground-floor studio and accessible facilities make it easy for musicians of all abilities to join in.
